The Development Department initiates, develops, and implements programs and services based on outside requests and perceived needs. As an incubator for new projects, it supports a wide variety of initiatives working with a diverse group of partners both internal and external.
The Development Department supports community and business collaborations and provides facilitation services for districts and organizations. Other assistance includes professional development, strategic planning, and assessment as well as grant writing.

In addition, the department provides planning and consultation services for the development of state-endorsed magnet schools and also operates several regional magnet schools and locally themed magnet schools.
