LEARN Celebrates Week of the Young Child

LEARN, RESCs Celebrate The Week of the Young Child

From April 8-12, Connecticut’s Regional Educational Service Centers (RESCs) hosted activities in honor of The Week of the Young Child™. Educators across the country observe the National Association for the Education of Young Children’s (NAEYC) annual celebration of early learning, young children, their teachers, families, and communities.

NAEYC members and affiliates, including LEARN and five other RESCs from throughout Connecticut, organized and sponsored enjoyable and informative family events and activities that celebrate young children.

Each day had a different theme: Music Monday, Tasty Tuesday, Work Together Wednesday, Artsy Thursday, and Family Friday. These themes encourage the continued development of children’s creativity, as well as fine motor, social, language and early literacy skills.

The RESC Alliance offers a continuum of early childhood programs and services for families and child care providers throughout the state. Programs and services for children and families include: School Readiness Programs, Head Start/Early Head Start, Family Resource Centers, Home Visitation Programs and Birth to Three/Early Intervention. Services for child care providers include: consultation and technical assistance for NAEYC accreditation, professional development, networking, and shared business services opportunities.
