Connecticut Accountability and Learning Initiative (CALI) . LEARN consultants provide training in the following: Making Standards Work, Effective Teaching Strategies, Data Driven Decision-Making and Data Teams, Para-Professional Training, School Climate, and Scientific Research-Based Intervention.

Classroom Walkthroughs. Whether you decide to develop your own protocols or processes or want to use an already developed model, contact us at LEARN to help you in the development, training, and data collection and analysis.

Coaching: Instructional. Let LEARN's trained consultants either coach your teachers in the use of best practice or help you to provide internal capacity by providing educational opportunity to your teacher leaders on instructional coaching.

Curriculum. Let the consultants at LEARN assist you in writing, reviewing or conducting an audit of your curriculum. We can also provide training in the use of CSDE products, including Curriculum Development Handbooks.

Early Childhood Outcomes. Contact LEARN for training on the Early Childhood Outcomes requirement as outlined by IDEA that requires states to measure and report on the developmental and functional progress of children who are receiving special education in the preschool setting. LEARN is collaborating with the SDE to support districts with training and assistance to meet this reporting requirement.

Early Childhood Quality Initiatives. These will give you information, consultation, and support for programs/classrooms serving children birth through third grade. Among the initiatives are: Consultation for Preschool Curriculum assessment and learning grounded in CT's preschool curriculum frameworks, environmental assessments, School Readiness, and NAEYC accreditation standards. Specific programs include: Training Wheels and the Accreditation Facilitation Project. We also offer facilitation, planning and coordination services for parent/community meetings and others that are looking for long or short term plans within the collaborative process. We can link you with your community Children's First and Discovery tables. For initiatives in social and emotional well being, we offer workshops that focus on building healthy relationships with children, transitioning from Birth to Three into school settings among others. We also provide direct service for children birth up to age six through our Building Blocks Mental Health program.

ELL and Title III Consortium. LEARN manages a consortium of districts which enables them to access their Title III funds. In fall of 2009, LEARN can provide a template for Board Orientations and training around key strategies (K-12) that both low and high incidence districts should be providing.

Grant Writing. LEARN is able to assist your district with searching for or completing grant applications that support your schools' priorities. Staff are also available to help review and edit applications as well as assist with implementing components of your awarded proposal such as the professional development or the evaluation.

High School Accreditation. LEARN has a secondary school consultant who is thoroughly trained and highly experienced in the accreditation standards and process employed by the New England Association of Schools and Colleges. Assistance is readily available for high schools in professional development related to key accreditation themes and issues, preparing the self-study, managing the accreditation visit, and addressing compliance issues rated by the accreditation report.

High School Reform. LEARN provides consultation, professional development and customized technical assistance around 21st century high school re-design needs including mission-driven skill-oriented graduation expectations, personalization of learning, capstone exhibitions, collaborative assessment of student work, student success plans, student advisory programs, and electronic graduation portfolios.

Leadership and Aspirant Programs. LEARN's consultants can customize generic leadership training such as developing effective and efficient meetings and systems design. Better yet, let us help you with your teacher evaluation processes and practices.

Positive Behavior Interventions & Supports (PBIS). Join LEARN's consortium of districts which use this nationally-acclaimed, researched based model to develop clear expectations, comprehensive implementation, and research-based interventions—all resulting in a more positive school climate.

Professional Learning Communities. (Roundtables and Consortia) LEARN hosts a variety of roundtables which enable participants to share and learn from each other.

School Improvement. LEARN's trained cadre of experienced teachers and leaders can customize a planning process for your school to use data to identify and set goals, develop action plans and identify outcome measures.

School Safety Audits. Authorities recommend conducting a formal school building safety audit every three years. LEARN provides inexpensive safety audits employing the NY/VA safety protocol and checklist widely used by more expensive commercial safety auditors. The audit includes a review of 200 building safety items and the school crisis plan. Concise faculty professional development on school safety/threat assessment issues is also available.

Response to Intervention (SRBI) . LEARN's staff of experienced, trained consultants stand ready to support your district in evaluating its current practice, planning for implementation, identifying assessments, developing systems for progress monitoring, and examining data to make decisions—all using the CSDE approved model.

Technology Planning and Support.LEARN can provide technology training for you and your school. Our consultants help teachers and administrators expand their knowledge, skills and abilities in using technology tools in their teaching and learning environments.
