The National Coast Guard Museum Association is designing and developing a future Coast Guard Museum in New London, Connecticut, to serve as a major education resource for southeastern Connecticut and the nation.  LEARN has been invited to partner with the National Coast Guard Museum Association to serve as an educational consultant, supporting the design and development of the school-based educational programming that our region would utilize to enhance science and technology curriculum.

The National Coast Guard Museum Association, in partnership with LEARN, is hosting a one-day Museum Education Forum to explore the exciting possibilities for a future National Coast Guard Museum.  Working with a select group of educators and STEM directors from regional museums, science centers, and area schools, the group will begin to define the education programs that will inspire students to become tomorrow’s critical thinkers, problem solvers, innovators, and future leaders of the nation!

The Museum Education Forum will be a major milestone for the ongoing Museum Education Initiative that began in October of 2017.  This forum is an opportunity for local educators to engage the Museum Education Committee in developing strategic education partnerships with schools in southeastern Connecticut to ensure the plans will meet the future needs of students and teachers.
