Biography: Brittany Forshaw is a member of the LEARN community who we were thrilled to recognize as LEARN’s Teacher of the Year! Ms. Forshaw is known to easily connect with students, families, and colleagues through her warm sense of humor. Students are drawn to Brittany because of her sincere attentiveness to their broader interests. She is committed to her own continuous growth, as well as to the growth of those around her. Brittany is always willing to help others expand their knowledge, skills, or interests. When the Marine Science Magnet High School took steps to establish its first equity team, Brittany was right there providing assistance. When the school created a reopening committee to help navigate the COVID-19 pandemic, Brittany was again one of the first to offer her time and thoughts.

In 2016, Ms. Forshaw obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Education with a major in Biology from Central Connecticut State University (CCSU). From CCSU, she went on to Quinnipiac University for her Master of Science degree in Special Education. She is currently seeking her sixth-year certificate in Educational Leadership from Southern Connecticut State University.

When she is not at school, working to improve herself, her craft, and her students, she is exercising and spending time with her nephews. Over the summer, you can also find Brittany reading at the beach. She is often referred to as “a fav” by those who know her best.
