TFS Welcomes Tricia Lee as Assistant Principal
The Friendship School

LEARN is pleased to announce the hiring of educator Tricia Lee as the Assistant Principal at The Friendship School (TFS). Lee will join the leadership team for TFS, partnering with Principal Andrea Simmons.

As assistant principal, Lee will support the school’s staff as they provide the very best in early childhood education. She will continue to work towards minimizing the COVID-19 pandemic’s impact on the 2020-21 school year while staying committed to the high level of instructional excellence at TFS.

TFS is operated by LEARN, the Regional Educational Service Center for southeastern Connecticut. The Executive Committee of the LEARN Board of Directors unanimously approved Lee as the school’s new assistant principal on Thursday, December 10. She is expected to begin her role with the school in January 2021.

“I’m excited to be coming home to the New London area, where I grew up.” Lee said. “Early education is my joy due to the ability to help students become lifelong learners.”

Lee, of Windsor, will be an excellent fit at TFS, an NAEYC and NEASC-accredited magnet school that serves students in pre-kindergarten and kindergarten. She has extensive experience as a first-grade teacher at schools in Bloomfield and Windsor Locks, and is a previous Elementary School Teacher of the Year at Laurel Elementary School in Bloomfield. She has also held various leadership positions during her career.

“Tricia’s background and passion for early education prepares her well for her role at TFS,” Andrea Simmons said. “Using her past leadership opportunities, culturally responsive teaching, focus on students, and experience in the classroom, she will be a great support to all students and staff.”

Lee is a proud Eastern Connecticut State University graduate, earning a bachelor’s degree in sociology. She earned her Master’s degree in Elementary Education from the University of New Haven and her 6th year degree from University of Connecticut.
