Tricia Lee Named Principal at TFS

LEARN Announces Tricia Lee as Principal at The Friendship School

LEARN, the Regional Educational Service Center for southeastern Connecticut, has hired Tricia Lee as Principal of The Friendship School in Waterford. Presently, Lee serves as Assistant Principal at The Friendship School.

The Friendship School is an NAEYC and NEASC-accredited magnet school that serves students in pre-kindergarten and kindergarten. The school partners with families to foster kindness and a life-long love of learning through exploration, curiosity, and leadership.

LEARN sought to hire a new principal to provide leadership and engage stakeholders in the ongoing development of the school’s approaches to instruction and social-emotional development; to lead with an equity-based mindset to assure equitable opportunities and outcomes for all children, families, and staff; establish and maintain high expectations and standards for student learning and positive interactions; and to develop and maintain a thriving and supportive and caring learning community of children, families, and educators.

“Feedback from The Friendship School community told us that they wanted a Principal who has excellent leadership characteristics, achieved broad school leadership experience, demonstrated empathy and support, and would be responsive to the TFS staff and community,” said LEARN Executive Director Katherine Ericson. “We have found those characteristics in Tricia Lee.”

Lee, a Windsor resident, has been Assistant Principal at The Friendship School since January 2021. She has extensive experience as a first-grade teacher at schools in Bloomfield and Windsor Locks, and is a previous Elementary School Teacher of the Year at Laurel Elementary School in Bloomfield.

“In my time at The Friendship School, I have found a wonderful community where everyone is learning every day,” said Lee. “I have loved my time visiting the classrooms and meeting all of our students and families. I am excited to continue on the path of parent partnerships, staff development and student growth.”

Lee is a proud Eastern Connecticut State University graduate, earning a bachelor’s degree in sociology. She earned her master’s degree in Elementary Education from the University of New Haven and her 6th year degree from University of Connecticut.

Lee begins in her new position on July 1, 2021.
