Every year, Teacher Appreciation Week gives us the opportunity to pause and recognize the educators who make an extraordinary difference in the lives of our students. This year, we are proud to shine a spotlight on an exceptional group of individuals from across LEARN’s Family of Schools and Specialized Programs – our 2027 Teachers of the Year, Paraeducators of the Year, and Inspiring Educators of the Year.

The Friendship School

Teacher of the Year: Kara Levitsky

Kara Levitsky exemplifies what it means to be an outstanding educator. Her dedication to her students, her warmth, and her commitment to creating a nurturing and engaging learning environment makes her a truly deserving recipient of The Friendship School’s Teacher of the Year award. Each day, Kara brings her best to the classroom, and her impact on the students and families she serves is immeasurable.

Paraeducator of the Year: Blandine Lawson

Blandine Lawson is an invaluable member of The Friendship School community. Her compassion, tireless dedication, and genuine care for each student she works with make her an essential part of our team. Blandine’s work behind the scenes and right alongside our students – ensures that each child feels supported, seen, and valued. She is so deserving of this recognition.

Regional Multicultural Magnet School

Teacher of the Year: Joanne Huber

Joanne Huber is a shining example of excellence in education. Her passion for teaching, her commitment to embracing and celebrating the diverse backgrounds of her students, and her ability to create a dynamic and inclusive classroom experience make her a truly outstanding educator. Joanne’s dedication to her students at the Regional Multicultural Magnet School is evident in everything she does, and we are so proud to honor her as this year’s Teacher of the Year.

Paraeducator of the Year: Madeleine Pacheco

Madeleine Pacheco brings heart, skill, and unwavering dedication to her role at the Regional Multicultural Magnet School every day. Her commitment to supporting students and her collaborative spirit make her an extraordinary member of the RMMS community. Madeleine’s contributions to our students’ growth and well-being are felt deeply, and this recognition is a testament to the difference she makes each and every day.

Marine Science Magnet High School

Teacher of the Year: Elizabeth Ayala

Elizabeth Ayala brings passion and excellence to every aspect of her work at Marine Science Magnet High School. Her ability to inspire curiosity, foster a love of learning, and empower her students to reach their full potential is a true gift. Elizabeth’s commitment to her students and to the unique mission of MSMHS makes her an extraordinarily deserving recipient of this honor. We are so proud to celebrate her.

LEARN Student Support Services

Teacher of the Year: Lili Stoddard

Lili Stoddard is a remarkable educator whose dedication to the students she serves through LEARN Student Support Services goes above and beyond every day. Her expertise, patience, and genuine passion for helping each student succeed make her an outstanding Teacher of the Year. Lili’s work at Ocean Avenue LEARNing Academy is a powerful reminder of the difference one devoted educator can make in a student’s life.

Paraeducator of the Year: Cynthya Gluck

Cynthya Gluck’s commitment to the students she supports is nothing short of inspiring. Her patience, professionalism, and deep care for student well-being make her an essential and beloved member of the LEARN Student Support Services team. Cynthya’s recognition as Paraeducator of the Year is a well-earned tribute to the incredible work she does each day.

Paraeducator of the Year: Jenissa Varela

Jenisa Varela brings compassion, skill, and a genuine love for her students to everything she does. As a recipient of the LEARN Student Support Services Paraeducator of the Year award, Jenisa’s dedication to supporting students and her collaborative approach to her work make her an invaluable part of our team. We are so grateful for everything Jenisa brings to LEARN every day.

Inspiring Educator of the Year: Sara Kroes

Sara Kroes embodies the spirit of the Inspiring Educator of the Year award. Her creativity, enthusiasm and heartfelt dedication to students make her a truly special member of the LEARN Student Support Services community. Sara has a remarkable ability to motivate and uplift those around her, and her positive impact on students and colleagues alike is felt throughout our organization. Congratulations, Sara – this honor is so well deserved.

Inspiring Educator of the Year: Jamie Cunningham

Jamie Cunningham is an inspiring educator who leads with heart. As a recipient of the Inspiring Educator of the Year award, Jamie’s passion for student growth, her innovative approach to her work, and her genuine commitment to making a difference set her apart as an extraordinary educator. Jamie’s energy and dedication inspire everyone around her, and we are so honored to recognize her this Teacher Appreciation Week.
