Nolan G. MSMHS senior

Marine Science Magnet High School senior Nolan Gonzalez has been named a 2025 Martin Luther King Jr. Scholarship recipient, an honor that recognizes high-achieving Connecticut students who embody Dr. King’s legacy of leadership, service, and social responsibility.

A resident of Quaker Hill, Nolan is no stranger to MSMHS pride—he is the fourth member of his family to attend the school, continuing a tradition of academic excellence and community engagement. As Senior Class President, Nolan leads with integrity and compassion, inspiring peers to uphold the school’s values of respect, responsibility, and pride.

Nolan’s academic record reflects both rigor and ambition. He is currently enrolled in a full schedule of Advanced Placement (AP) and UConn Early College Experience (ECE) courses, including AP Biology, AP English Literature, AP Microeconomics, ECE Spanish, and AP Calculus BC. His commitment to challenging himself in every subject exemplifies the determination and perseverance that Dr. King championed in his call to pursue excellence through education.

“Nolan’s leadership and academic achievements reflect the values at the heart of the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Scholarship,” said Tara Amatrudo, Principal at Marine Science Magnet High School. “He models what it means to serve others, lead by example, and strive for continuous growth.”

The Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Scholarship honors students across Connecticut who demonstrate academic promise, character, and a deep commitment to equity and community service. Recipients are recognized not only for what they achieve, but for how they uplift others.

LEARN and Marine Science Magnet High School proudly celebrate Nolan’s accomplishments and the example he sets for others. His dedication to scholarship, leadership, and community reminds us all of Dr. King’s enduring words: ‘Everybody can be great because everybody can serve.’
