LEARN is proud to celebrate Deisha Quiñones, a 1st-grade Puentes Dual Language teacher at Regional Multicultural Magnet School, who has been named a Connecticut Teacher of the Year Semifinalist.

Selected as one of the top 16 educators in Connecticut, Ms. Deisha was recognized among teachers representing more than 100 school districts statewide. This distinguished honor reflects her outstanding teaching practice, dedication to bilingual education, and commitment to creating inclusive, culturally responsive learning environments for younger learners.

Ms. Deisha’s story is especially powerful because she is also an RMMS alum. Her journey, from student to teacher within the same school community, highlights the lasting impact of magnet education and the meaningful connections built between educators, students, and families.

Through the Puentes Dual Language Program, Ms. Deisha supports students in developing strong academic foundations in both English and Spanish while nurturing confidence, empathy, and a love of learning. Her work helps students see bilingualism not just as a skill, but as a strength and a pathway to connecting with the world around them.

At LEARN, we are proud to support educators who inspire excellence, celebrate diversity, and empower students to thrive. Ms. Deisha’s recognition is a celebration not only of her achievements, but of the vibrant learning communities across LEARN’s Family of Schools.

Please join us in congratulating Ms. Deisha on this incredible and well-deserved honor.
